Course Outline

Successful implant therapy involves a delicate balance between soft tissue, hard tissue, and an aesthetic and functional prosthetic component. This course will look at each of the following aspects for the provision of dental implants for your patients from the unique perspective of the surgical and restorative interface. Emphasis will be placed on the foundational aspects of appropriate case selection and diagnostic planning to ensure optimal esthetic outcomes. Comparison of the various timing/protocols which exist for implant placement and restoration will be discussed. Unique conributors and their relationship to success including the challenges of partial edentulism in the esthetic zone and the prosthetic retention type (screw vs cement) will be examined. Finally, the importance of long term implant health through appropriate assessment, diagnosis and maintenance will be covered.
