Course Outline

Temporomandibular Disorders (TMD) and orofacial pain conditions comprise a high percentage of referrals to dental practitioners. Understanding the components of a complete medical/dental history as well as the techniques involved in performing a thorough examination are key components in providing an accurate diagnosis and appropriate treatment plan. Attendees to this seminar will learn to recognize the importance of the “bio-psycho-social” model associated with these conditions.

Course Objectives

At the end of this course, participants will be able to obtain a through history, examination and provide appropriate treatment to this unique patient population. Topics include:
- Examination
- Diagnosis and treatment planning
- Therapeutic modalities
- Current research at Mount Sinai Hospital
