Course Outline

A variety of suturing materials are available for use with various techniques. This course will provide a rationale for the use of different materials and techniques to achieve predictable intraoral wound closure leading towards post-surgical success.

Course Objectives

At the end of this course, participants will have the knowledge and skills to choose the suturing material and the best wound closure technique for an intraoral wound to achieve success and overall patient satisfaction.

• The different types of suturing materials/ instruments and their characteristics
• The factors that govern the selection of suturing material/ technique.
• The principles and the critical factors for successful intraoral wound closure.
• The different suturing techniques, indication for each and how is it performed.
